10th annual Peace Day in the Park doubles as food drive for A.C.T. and recent hurricane victims
Unifying the community in a way few events can, the 10th annual Peace Day in the Park gathering takes place along the lawn of the Alliance for the Arts campus, 10091 McGregor Blvd., Sunday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., hosted by SWFL 4 Peace.
Known as “A day of celebrating peace and helping it grow, this is a community event in honor of the International Day of Peace.”
The free event is open to family of all ages, pets included, and offer live music throughout the celebration, art vendors and merchants, Reiki and reflexology, yoga and meditative instruction, crafts, plenty of food, informative groups and education, lots of raffles, and, most importantly, a sensation of community and peace.
Kids can have fun playing special games and getting their faces painted, partake in the Peace Day scavenger hunt, and help paint “Peace Rocks” to share and hide throughout the community.
Stop by the “Chill Zone” for plenty of on-campus fun. As volunteer coordinator Wendy White says, “Music starts after the 108 Salutations for Peace. Come hydrate yourself after yoga and lounge around our area with DJ tunes. There are two areas of music, [the Chill Zone] is just the DJ area. Walk around the Alliance for the Arts and experience it all! See you Sunday!”
To help with the recent tragedy due to #HurricaneIrma, as well as to help benefit A.C.T. (Abuse, Counseling and Treatment) a canned food, dried good and pet supply/pet food collection will be set up during the Peace Day celebration, as well as a blood drive.
Peace, my friends! ❤
